Medicare & Your Care at Renowned Chiropractic
We’re excited to share that Renowned Chiropractic is now enrolled with Medicare!
Dr. Steven Ellefsen is a non-participating provider, which means we work with Medicare but a little differently than some offices. Here’s how it works for you:
What “non-participating” means
-
We follow the Medicare fee schedule for covered chiropractic adjustments.
-
You’ll pay for your spinal adjustment at the visit (Medicare requires us to collect payment up front).
-
We file your claim to Medicare for you.
-
Medicare reimburses you directly — you’ll usually get a check or direct deposit from Medicare once they process your claim.
What Medicare covers (and what it doesn’t)
-
Covered: Spinal manipulation when it’s medically necessary (to correct a spinal subluxation).
-
Not covered: New patient exams, re-exams, x-rays, therapies, or maintenance/wellness care once you’re stable.
If we recommend a service Medicare doesn’t cover (like an exam or x-ray), we’ll let you know up front and have you sign an Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) so there are no surprises.
Why we chose this route
Being non-participating lets us keep care simple, avoid surprise billing, and still help you use your Medicare benefits for the portion that’s covered — the adjustment itself.
Questions?
We’re here to make the process easy. Bring your Medicare card to your first visit, and we’ll walk you through everything step by step.
